Mobilitate is a social network platform that enables individuals to join communities, and allows those communities to organise, communicate and collaborate for effective, transparent and accountable government and a safe, crime free South Africa. The platform allows users to inform their community, municipality and government about issues including dangerous potholes and/or road conditions, illegal activities such as dumping and rubbish not being collected, water and sanitation problems and high crime areas. Additionally, users can suggest ideas to their community, municipality and government such as a traffic circle, traffic light, stop street etc. to reduce traffic issues, road sign maintenance and road signs to be improved or erected and others. Users must be logged in as a registered user before you can add an issue. Once registered, they can log onto www.mobilitate.co.za and select to sign in where they will be required to enter their personal details. A confirmation email will be sent to confirm the details and to allow the user to activate the account. Users can personalize privacy settings by choosing who can and can not view personal information by selecting the ìMy profileî link at the top of the page and editing the information. Once signed in to Mobilitate, users can report an issue using the interactive map to select the location of the issue and choose to upload an image if required. Mobilitate will follow up on the issue with the relevant government institutions, on the userís behalf. Mobilitateís social networking and communication services allow the issue to gain awareness in the community. Users are not limited to the type of issues they can report from Crime issues and Traffic issues to ideas and suggestions. You can view different issues by either clicking on the different markers on the map or by viewing the different issues on the panel to the right. Users can also add comments to specific issues, other than their own. Once an issue has been resolved, users can mark the issue as resolved providing a short description of how the issue was resolved.
