BidorBuy.co.za Specials, coupons and discounts
Launched in August 1999, bidorbuy.co.za is the largest online marketplace in South Africa offering online auctions as well as fixed price sales for buyers and sellers. The site has over 1 million unique visitors every month according to Google Analytics and lists over 700 000 items each month. Any user that wants to sell a product or service can list the item for sale on the site, setting a start time, end time, price and detailed description. Buyers can browse the products for sale and bid on an item. In the event of a sale, the bidorbuy system puts the buyer and seller in contact to conclude the deal. Bidorbuy additionally offers an add on payment system for payments between buyers and sellers. This service, known as bobPay, includes payments made by credit card and EFT. The seller sets the shipping and payment conditions on any products for sale or auction ñ these are included in the product description for each individual item. Bidorbuy.co.za does not sell any products or services, but provides a platform to facilitate trade between the buyer and seller. It makes money by charging the seller a commission of between one and five percent on all successful sales. Buyers can find products ether by browsing through the various categories, searching using an advanced search, filtering and sorting. Users can also conduct a quick search using keywords in the search bar at the top of the page. The Advanced Search feature allows buyers to be specific about details like price, type of listing, item condition and warranty options. Buyers can order results by using the sort drop-down on the search results page and category page listings to sort by: Ending Soon; What’s New; Lowest Price or Hot Selling Items. There are three types of listings on bidorbuy: Buy Now items, Auctions and Classified ads. Buy Now items allow for instant buying at a fixed price while auctions are a public sale where the seller specifies the starting price and buyers place bids on the item until the auction closes, with the highest bid winning the auction. The seller can choose to set a reserve price for the auction as well as make multiple quantities available for multiple winners. A ‘Classified’ on bidorbuy is the same as in the local paper and the sale is completed via direct communication between the buyer and seller. To bid on an auction or buy an item at a fixed price, you need to be a registered user. Registration is simple and allows users to receive regular updates of special auctions and offers from bidorbuy.co.za.
